Group buy style design with run down counter and pseudo buy counter

I need help with a group buy style design with a countdown clock and a pseudo buy counter. The site will probably just sell 1 or 2 products at a time.

There is a great app that Gavin made for "Deal of the Day" style shops to automated the start/stop, show/hide functions. For a timer just use jQuery. App is here: http://www.shopifyassistant.com/login
