Store credit for a customer

Hi,

 

On Shopify POS is there a way we can see Store Credit/s issued to a customer. We might have more than 1 credit issued to a customer for different transactions and the customer might have used some of these.

 

Can I see this as a history on the POS iPad App?

Nick here from Shopify. 

 

Great question! Store credit isn’t tracked on each customer, but as a total on the store, which can be viewed in Analytics. You can also see this information in each order. So while you cannot track it per customer, you can per each order. I understand that is not completely ideal and might require some manual tracking, but it would be the only way right now.

I will, however, submit this as a feature request for you on your behalf to our team, as I can really see how this would benefit your store while selling when using the POS.

Hi Nick,

 

Thanks for your reply and thanks again for putting forward my request as a feature request.
I'm running a project to replace our old till system with Shopify POS and at the moment this is one the biggest show stoppers. Issuing a store credit/credit note a customer for refund is most commonly used and a "must have" feature. Not having this feature has put the choice and implementation of Shopify POS on hold at our business.

I can see Shopify has implemented it however it is pointless if we can't track it back to the customer. There is no use of having a store credit if we can't track and use it for the original customer.

 

What's our alternative here please?

What I did for one of my clients - Is we gave them a GIFT CARD with the exact amount for the Credit..

 

So they get the refund on a Gift Card.

The best workaround at the moment would be what @LighthouseWeb mentioned.

Hi,

 

Thanks @LighthouseWeb for the alternative work around.

However I don't see Gift Card as an option on POS app when I try to refund a transaction. The only options I have are original payment method or Store Credit. Gift cards are enabled on POS app however physical gift cards are not.

 

Could you please let me know how did you do this?

You can try it on a test account this is how to make it flow - But this was for a 

Shopify POS REFUND with NO Recite
Issue a GIFT CARD

But you can apply it still to a Refund then Gift Card

 

  1. Find PRODUCT IN POS
    1. To figure out TOTAL AMOUNT
      1. Finding the product in the POS and then it will show you how much to give back ON the CHARGE BOX
    2. Delete the ITEM from the list
  2. Issue a GIFT CARD
    1. Click on CUSTOM AMOUNT
    2. Click the TOP 3 DOTS and add in NOTES to why you did this
  3. On the Select Payment
    1. STORE CREDIT
    2. Complete the Gift Card
  4. Now they have the Money on the Card
    1. If they want to buy or replace the Product
    2. Scan or find the product and make up a new
    3. SELECT CHARGE and charge it to the Gift Card

 

Or For a REFEND on to GIFT CARD ACtual ONE

 

  1. Find ORDER
    1. Click on RETURN
    2. Then click on your PRODUCT you want returend
    3. CLick on REFUND BALANCE TO STORE
    4. Click REFUND
  2. Issue a GIFT CARD
    1. Click on CUSTOM AMOUNT
    2. Click the TOP 3 DOTS and add in NOTES to why you did this
  3. On the Select Payment
    1. STORE CREDIT
    2. Complete the Gift Card
  4. Now they have the Money on the Card
    1. If they want to buy or replace the Product
    2. Scan or find the product and make up a new
    3. SELECT CHARGE and charge it to the Gift Card

BUT I JUST SAW THIS after testing the above out

 

When You do a REFUND

 - Now there is a SLIDDER that says REFUND BALANCE TO GIFT CARD

  - But I hae yet to really try it out seems that you can ONLY EMAIL IT TO A CLIENT

Where can I see the SLIDDER that says REFUND BALANCE TO GIFT CARD

I can't see it on my POS and not on 'myadmin' section of the store on browser too.

 

I'm using POS app on iPad and I just checked, it appears to be most up to date.

 

Could you please help further.

I go to ORDER

 - then click the ORDER

 - then Click the RETURN OR EXCHANGE BUTTON

 - Then under the REFUND TOTAL

  - there are REFUND BALANCE TO GIFT CARD or REFUND GBLANCE TO STORE CREDIT

 

This something new - have to let me clients know
