Any way to capture online order payment using POS?

I don't see why there should be a need for an extra application to do such a an action. This is something that Shopify POS should do OTB.

Hey Longury_Collab,

 

From what I know of Shopify from our time as an expert, they will not ever be able to support all pieces and functionality, that isn't their goal and shouldn't be. They instead provide a solid foundation with strong systems to allow developers that are focused on specific areas to build great add ons and apps. Thats our goal with this. While I understand that you feel that this should be out of the box behaviour, it isn't currently and it likely won't be a priority for Shopify in the near future as they look to focus on a globalized platform. 

 

Would love to hear more about your specific need and how we can make sure the developed system works for you and your store.

I agree. We allow people to order online and pick up in store, being able to bring up an unpaid invoice and process it through the POS should be a simple thing to implement. The data is all already there, so why is it not a native feature?

As you may have seen, this app is now live in the store, check it out: https://apps.shopify.com/draft-orders-for-pos. I recommend reviewing it to see if it fits your needs. While I realize that this could very well be a basic feature of the POS application, I think you will find that what we have done so far and how we plan to extend the app in the future will be a far better solution longer term. 

 

If anyone has questions about the app, please feel free to reach out to us as well. If there is a specific use case or feature we do not support, let us know and we will try and make it happen as quickly as we can.

The app is only for draft orders? Does it work with actual unpaid orders that a customer has placed on our website?

As far as I can see, this app solution given is only for draft orders so doesn't work.

 

We have the same issue as that described in this thread and can't find a solution. Seems so obvious too!  We take orders online and then payment on delivery.

We need a solution where orders taken through our website can be subsequently found on a POS solution and payment taken for that order. Is anyone aware of a POS solution other than Shopify POS which can integrate with Shopify and extract order information? Or can someone someone please build an app for online orders to be shown on Shopify POS for payment to be taken for them (without Shopify POS being a different sales channel)?!

I also have the same issue. We create presales and layaways on the website and use deferpay to processes multiple partial payments and final payment. The issue for us is that local customers use our website to a great extent and often create a layaway then want to come in the store and make a cash partial payment and we have no way to do it. We resort to taking the payment and making a note/comment in the shopify admin panel on the order but obviously when they get ready to pay it off later, we tell them the wrong final balance because they dont think to look in the comments to see if a cash payment was made and it obviously isnt reflected in the balance.

 

What we need is to be able to create a unpaid unfulfilled order in either the admin or POS and then be able to process partial payments from either side as well.  But if I could at least click on weborder from the POS and enter in a payment amount (partial or full) and it reflect in the balance and status, that would go a long way to solving 85% of the issues I have with this process.
