when we do a sale for a customer for a layby or account sale, the printed receipt does not display the customer name! This is essential for us to use the receipts to put items on layby, we need to know the customer for whom that layby is for. I think it would be good practice in any case to print the customers name if a sale is assigned to a customer.
If it's a layby (or lay away as we say in the US), a copy of the receipt is attached to the item and place on a shelf. Having the customer's info on the the receipt aids in finding it and contacting them if need be.
Sometimes there are mail-in rebates where the customer has to send in a receipt showing the purchase details, including their customer on the info beneficial.
Sometimes we handle financing. The financing company wants EXACT details on the receipt. That would include include customer information.
And come on, many of us have asked for this, doesn't it suffice that many of us have asked for this. We have to justify our request? The info is there, we just want the ability to print it if we desire. Why gather the info and not be able to print it?
we use it for account purchases and this is a more reliable way to have client name on the receipt. we also sell memberships and this will ensure that the membership has the client's name on it.
for the above i currently get staff to hand write the name on the receipt and having it printed would be more accurate.
again, great to see this in action.
As the above comments, we attach a copy of the receipt to the items on layby in our stock room. At the moment when the customer comes in we have to do the additional step of finding the receipt number on the POS first before finding the item. Furthermore, we would like to keep multiple layby items per customer together in one spot, the order number doesn't allow this but if the customer name was on it, then it would be possible.
