I think all of us who are selling gift cards in a brick and mortar can agree that having a barcode like on the printed receipts is needed in the email that is sent out.
I have people buying gift cards as gift, they get an email. The print the email and bring it in to spend it, and I have to manually type in the code.
Second scenario I run into all the time. When I issue store credit etc for something. I give them a gift card. They have the printed version, they lose it, and they bring in the email with the code, but I want to scan it off their phone to save time. This would not be hard to fix on your guys's end and would us retailers a lot.
I've issued roughly 70 gift cards so far, might not be many but it does save me time.
Yeah except, the printed out piece of paper is static also. A customer buys $100 gift card. They come in and spend $50. When I'm done checking them out it doesn't print them a new $50 gift card, they have to keep the same printed receipt to use up the other $50. This is no different than the email would be.
