What is the status of this request? IT MUST BE RESOLVED IMMEDIATELY
We receive daily email from customers that either cant find past orders, made a purchase but didn't receive credit in our Rewards Program, or want to change their email address and cant because it already exists. WE RECEIVE DAILY EMAILS WITH THESE ISSUES. Do you understand how absurd it is to tell your customer, sorry but we cant fix this?
This is not a feature request, this is a very basic function.
WE NEED A RESPONSE ON THIS ISSUE!
If you cant tell, Im pissed. No Im embarrassed that I have to tell my customers we have an inferior POS and cant perform a very basic function.
Our Rewards Program is a a joke...and its because Shopify doesnt understand how important this request is to their customers. We waste more time at the point of sale trying to get our customers in the correct account, Its a giant mess because we have HUNDREDS of duplicate names.

You can now merge customer profiles. Thanks to your advocacy and feedback - you can merge customer profiles to ensure you have the most accurate view of your customers.
Identify duplicated customer profiles with the same name, phone number, email address, or another overlapping attribute then merge customers to make sure you maintain quality customer data.
To merge customer profiles:
Keep in mind, not every customer profile can be merged. There are some limitations for merging profiles that you can review in the Shopify Help Center.

Can we at least manually one by one change orders to a different account, then delete the old account. We must be able to fix this or we have to switch to another vendor. We cannot go forward with this problem...its compounded every single day. I literally spent two hours last night answering customer emails about missing orders that are simple because of duplicate accounts with different email addresses.

I came across this post while looking for people with the same issues that you are having. I was searching because I've made an app that I think might help you with this issue.
https://apps.shopify.com/doppelganger-app
It currently allows you to link accounts together to get an overview of all the combined information. Including a list of all orders made on all the linked accounts.
I'm saying "currently" because I've only just launched the app and am still working on new features. Like the option to show this same list of combined orders on the customer's order history page.
It's not the best solution, which would be the ability to actually merge accounts together, but it might just be the second-best solution.
I'd love for you to give it a try and let me know if this might work for you. Or if it doesn't, what features you are missing to make it more useful for you.
