We have a need in our store to run tabs for customers, much like you would in a bar or restaurant. I had hopes that the partial payment feature might work, by temporarily closing the order with a .01 payment, but unfortunately you cannot add additional items to the order when you reopen it.
Is the "customer tab" feature something that Shopify has on their radar?

The issue for me is to be able to add products to the order after it is re-opened, not just to have them sit there until a future time. From what I can see, you cannot add any additional products once you have closed or suspended the order, whether or not it is fulfilled or paid in full. That's why I am calling it a customer "tab".

Nope. You're right. Unless you're an enterprise level customer (AFAIK) changing orders is not possible. Perhaps you can get the skinny from Shopify about that. If they offer it to that tier, maybe they can offer it to all at some point sooner rather than later.
