In our local store all food sales are exempt a portion of sales tax.
Based on the info here:
It appears our tax is based on the zip code selected in settings. I looks like the only way to adjust the tax exempt items is to manually adjust this in the POS at point of sale. Am I missing something? This needs to be a setting that can be applied to an entire collection, changing this in POS on every single sale is not practical.
Please tell me there is a better way to do this.
You can exempt taxes by un-clicking "Charge taxes for this item" in the product variant settings. This will be respect by Shopify POS.

4% City Tax
or 9% TOTAL
0% State (total exemption)
3% City (1% exempt)
or 3% Total
We sell both types in our retail store and on-line. How would I handle this?
In Square its as simple as creating 3 taxes:
5%, 4% and 3%
We assign both 5% + 4% to all non food categories and 3% to all food categories. In Shopify this isn't possible as you automatically assign taxes based on location.

Thanks, I see the update is now live. Two questions:
1- is there a way to bulk add my items into these two collections? I have thousands of products, and don't want to have to add them to a new collection individually.
2- where can I find documentation for the new features. Specifically selling Gift Cards in the POS?
