Tap, Chip, and Swipe card reader *NEEDS* to default to tap!

Hi, especially now in this current situation, I need the "Tap, Chip, and Swipe card reader"

to default to tap.

Currently the card reader asks the customer to press a button to switch to tap mode.

We need this to be the default. Please, how can this be done!????

I totally agree with this.

In a pre-COVID-19 world this was just an irritant. As we start make plans to re-open our shop in the coming weeks / months, this has now become a public health risk that we need to address.

Has anyone found a solution to this issue, or other card readers available that operate with Shopify POS?

Which reader are you using? The one they currently sell doesnt have any buttons..

There are different card readers offered in the United Kingdom versus the U.S.A. The only current option in the UK for Shopify users, is the one Dirky has provided a link to. The 'no buttons' version sold in the USA is not available to UK retailers.

When it was first available it automatically defaulted to contactless over inserting the card to use chip & pin. An unannounced change with a firmware upgrade  was then made, that required a staff member or the customer to tap the 'tick' button in order for the contactless part to be enabled.

Four months ago that was a minor irritation. Now it is a health risk.

Oh really! I didnt realise it actually worked the other /correct way previously! And Shopify changed it. Hmm, there should be an option to change it back.
