We are a children's store that charges 2 types of tax. 5% for apparel and shoes and 15% for everything else. So our tax at the end of the day is not just a consistent percentage of sales. This is a huge problem when we close and try to figure out our HST for remittance. We have to calculate each order individually because the stupid end of day Register Summary doesn't include a breakdown of the tax. This is a super major flaw in my books. Even $100 Casios at Staples give you a tax report at end of each day. Why on earth would they think it was OK to create a Register Summary that doesn't include this. We can't manually add it up for ever. If they don't fix we will switch back to Lightspeed.
Also, we would like the tax calculation on the Registry Summary to reflect the deduction of tax from returns taken that day. Ie even if the original order was from another day we would like the Register Summary to reflect all the physical $ transactions conducted that day including returns. Thus integrating with accounting software better and also reflecting actual money earned that day and better for bank reconciliation. The tax on the registry summary should be an actual accounting of transactions only from that day- both earnings and refunds (the date of the original purchase of item being refunded should be ignored on Registry Summary).
I just wanted to check in on this. Most POS systems have the option of a proper z-tape printout at close, and most retail malls require it. Even state tax departments can request them. Minimally, it would seem that adding line items on this printout such as total tax, shipping, etc. should only take a few lines of code. When is this expected to be upgraded please?
