Applying discount without a discount code

Hi, 

We're integrating our loyalty platform with our clients Shopify stores. We are using a webhook to offer loyalty points to customers when an order is fulfilled, but we need a way for customers to spend points at checkout. 

Can we apply a flat $ discount to a cart without our clients creating discount codes?
