Income streams for storefront developers

I am thinking about becoming a storefront developer. I'd like to understand the income streams that are available.

Obviously there's the charge to the customer for development.

If I understand correctly, there's a Shopify affiliate program. Is that true?

Are there affiliate opportunities with app developers? Is that allowed?

Are there any others?
