Abandoned Cart Custom Message

So I'm trying to edit my abandoned cart email but to do so I need the code or URL or whatever I'm suppose to use to be able to create an abandoned cart email that match my brand

So according to this page: https://help.shopify.com/en/api/reference/orders/abandoned-checkouts

I'm suppose to use {{ abandoned_cart_url }} to do so
Am I right about this?

I tried this at least but then Shopify gave me this message:

Skærmbillede 2019-07-15 kl. 15.42.10.png

I don't know what I'm supposed to do about this.

But I'm also not sure if the {{ abandoned_cart_url }} part is even what I'm supposed to do

What I'd like to do is edit the abandoned cart email to match my brand and I'm using Klaviyo to do so. I want to insert a button that take people to their specific abandoned cart, but as mentioned, I need the code/url/? to put in the button that take people there.

Hey @madsforsberg,

Try this out with your abandoned checkouts template page:

  1. From your Shopify Admin, go to Settings > Notifications > Abandoned Checkout.
  2. Copy/paste your current Email body (HTML) somewhere safe.
  3. Click Revert to default at the bottom of the page.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Re-edit the template to add your custom code.
  6. Click Save.

Let me know if this solves your problem or if you need further help!

This is an accepted solution.

Also, @madsforsberg,

The liquid variable code for the abandoned checkout URL is:

{{ url }}

This code only works in the abandoned checkout template.

Well I'm editing my templates in Klaviyo
I've reset to default and now I try to put in my edited verser (that I made in Klaviyo, with Shopify's tags and {{ url }}
Is that what you meant?
The thing if I still get the red message saying that I'm missing the {{ custom message }} drop (I just don't know what that is)

I appreciate you taking the time to help, thanks in advance :D

Hey @madsforsberg,

You can send a custom message to an individual customer when sending out abandoned cart messages. {{ custom_message }} is where it goes. You can read more up on this here: http://bit.ly/2XOfRni

All you need to do to fix this error is add {{ custom_message }} somewhere appropriate in your code. If you copy/paste the code here, I can probably fix it for you.

@madsforsberg Copy/paste the entire email template. You may email it to me if it's too large. I will private message you my contact details.

@madsforsberg & @BrianAtWork
I hope all is well and each of your businesses are thriving.

Were you able to resolve this issue?

I am currently facing the exact same problem as @madsforsberg.
When pasting my HTML code provided by Klaviyo, i get the "Body is missing the {{custom_message}} drop" error message.
I can't figure out WHERE to place the {{custom_message}} as advised by @BrianAtWork>.

Your help on this will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
