Are there any negatives to combining css and js files?

I keep reading that to improve load times i should combine all my css files into one and all the js into one js file.

The theme we have is really bloated and has a load of css files, it looks like whoever created it did from combining a bunch of different bits from different themes. Is it possible that combining them all could cause it to be slower? Im hoping to combine them and then slowly remove the css that isn't actually being used.

Hello @reniwqwil5 , there are no any negative impect by combining js and CSS . you should combine all css in one file and all js in one file so that store load speed will increase
