Discount code

I’ve disabled and deleted my discount code for my website but for some reason it still shows up on my website to my customers

A couple of questions for clarification:

1.  When you say you 'deleted' it, do you mean you deleted the discount code from the 'discounts' menu in your admin or somewhere else?
2. When you say it still 'shows up for your customers' do you mean it is appearing/applying automatically at checkout, or it's appearing in a banner or popup or something similar on your store?

Yes I deleted it from admin in the discount section, it still pops up as a
banner on my website however

The banner on your site would not be controlled by the existence or absence of the discount code itself. The banner would be controlled by whatever app you are using to show banners on your store (unless the banner is an image and/or text that you have inserted in a section in your theme). The banner will continue to display until you disable or delete it from the app, or remove the image or text section you have inserted in your theme.

I deleted the discount code, and the banner announcing the code, yet the discount is still being applied.  How do I stop it?

Are you the same person, but with a new username? Sorry for my confusion.

If a discount is being applied at checkout on your store, then it is still active in the 'Discounts' menu in your admin. That is the only way a discount will work on your site.
