Could you let us know what domain name you have acquired for your store and from where you purchased it so we can check this out with you?
If this domain was purchased from a registrar other than Shopify, have you connected this domain to your store yet, and if so, how recently was this done?
With this info in place, we can start to investigate this with you.

Thanks for confirming that info, but we would actually need to know the domain name that you have purchased here.
This is the custom URL you are trying to add to your store, as opposed to the 'myshopify.com' URL your store would have been created under.
If you can let us know that domain name, we can proceed to investigate this.

Perfect, thanks for that link.
I can see your store is up and accessible on that domain now from my location.
It can take some time for DNS changes or new domains to propagate online sometimes which may account for the delay you experienced here.
Would you just be getting started with your business, or are you taking an existing venture online?

In order to investigate this, we'll need some of the same info I have requested from the other posters here, most importantly we would need to know the domain name in question.
Without this URL, we would not be able to investigate what might be happening here.
If you can also confirm if this domain was purchased via Shopify or a third-party; if via a third-party have you connected this domain to your Shopify admin yet, and finally, for now, when was this domain purchased or connected to your store?
With this info in place we can start to look into the behavior you reported.
