Liquid, JavaScript, themes, sales channels
Hello,
I transferred a domain to the Shopify store on March 3rd and it worked when it was first transferred, but now it bounces in and out of being connected. Sometimes the site works and sometimes it's doesn't. Wix says that the domain is pointing away from them and the CName and A Record have been changed. On Wix, there are 4 A Records do they all need to be changed to the Shopify IP address? I don't know what else to do. Help.
Hello, @Tricianne.
Elias here with Shopify Support. I'd be happy to lend a hand with this!
Just to clarify, did you transfer the domain to Shopify? Or, did you connect the domain from Wix to Shopify?
If you've transferred your domain to Shopify, then the DNS settings for your domain will be hosted on Shopify. However, since you've mentioned checking with Wix on the DNS records, then it's likely that you've only connected the domain from Wix to Shopify.
If you're seeing multiple A records on Wix, then it's possible that this is causing a conflict and, as a result, the domain is intermittently connecting to Shopify. You can use a tool, like Who.IS, to check the DNS records of your domain and see which records are being picked up publicly. From there, you'll want to make sure that both of Shopify's DNS records are present. I've listed our DNS records below and you can also find them on our guide - Set up your existing domain to connect to Shopify.
It's important to note that you can only have one A record associated with your primary domain (eg. website.com), so I'd recommend checking with Wix on removing the older A records. Since the CNAME record, which connects your domain with a prefix (eg. www.website.com), is working properly - You can also consider setting this as your primary domain on Shopify. This way, your store can continue to operate off the domain (www.website.com) without interruption, while you resolve this A record issue.
Shopify's DNS records:
A record: 23.227.38.65
CNAME: shops.myshopify.com
Can you double-check with Wix to see if they can help adjust your DNS records and remove the older A records?
