Hi guys,

I'm not very good in english, please be tolerant :)

I have a big issue. I'm working with a SEO company, and we noticed that we have a lot of duplicate contend.

As you know, each product is in several collections. For example, A Jaspe (that's a kind of stone) bracelet is in the collection All the bracelets (in french: Bracelets Naturels Zen) and in the collection All the Jaspe jewelry (in french: Bijoux en Jaspe).  And, this product will have these 2 url ! See :

That is a big problem for SEO.

How to fix this ? Thank you so much.

For search engines Shopify shows only the product with direct link, without collection path, so I don't think there is a problem here.

For search engines the product is one with the following link.

You think that this is not considered as duplicate content ?

This isn't a problem for duplicate content as the canonical link is always set to the original product (So, google is told where the original is and not to mark down for duplication).

Yes we ran into the same thing with an seo company giving the usual cookie-cutter response to on-site seo. The sitemap.xml has the product not within a collection url. The canonical tag points to that same url. Google is smart enough to know that the two 'pieces of content' are really the same content, just as they would if e.g. you had a 'printable version' of a page and it had a canonical tag and a unique url. It's not duplicated just because it has multiple urls as such. You should be more concerned about where you got the content from, because if you didn't write it yourself and it's verbatim what the manufacturer gave you then it's 100% duplicated already regardless.
