For a customer I need to replace the collection images by new versions, because for some of them the file size is too large or they are not the correct dimensions for what we use them for. There are hundreds of images so I can't do it by hand - I need to do it in bulk. So I need to export, edit and replace. I have 2 questions regarding this:
1. Is there a way to export the collection images somehow? I have the app Excelify installed and can export product image urls using that (then I can download all the images based on the urls using the Save Tab Chrome extension), but I need the collection images - not the product images.
UPDATE: Never mind, I found a way to do this also with Excelify
2. I have tried replacing an image with an updated version as a test, but if I upload a file with the same name it creates a new version of the file i.e. it has a different url (file name + what seems to be a generated version number). I need the urls to remain the same as we reference them in a web application and otherwise all of the image urls need to be changed. Again, there are hundreds, so not really doable. Is there a way to actually replace an image file?
I hope someone can help me out with this!

This is an accepted solution.
Renars here from Excelify.
Same as for the Products, you can also export Custom Collections and Smart Collections to get their images.
In the app when creating an export you can select to export Custom Collections and/or Smart Collections, select Basic Columns under each.
This will include the "Image Src" column for each collection with a link to the image of that collection.
In the Image Src column, you can list your new image for each collection and import that file back to update the images for the collections.
When importing make sure that the app recognizes the import as Custom Collections and/or Smart Collections not Products.
I hope this helps, if you have any more questions or issues, please contact us by any means listed in our "Contact Us" page.
Yes, this is becouse Collection in Shopify can only have one image, so the process is a lot simpler than, for example, for Products.
The app would just set the image you have in the file to be that collections image, and also the file name should stay the same as it is listed in the file, also if it is the same as the previous image.
