Hi all, trying to register my site on my merchant account but I get this error "URL has been claimed at a higher leve" and to fix it i must change it somehow at the higher level, it gives no info on how to do this.. i dont know where this mysterious merchant account is that it's been claimed to because it's not the one i have.
This can happen when you already claimed the domain using a different email.
Simply log in to Google Merchant Center directly, you should see a red banner, click on fix now. Or go to wrench icon > business information > websites
Then verify, if you get the warning again, just accept, and click on claim again and it will be verified. Google does not explain you have to click on it twice. Please note, you will lose the claim in the other account.
Hello, I'm having this problem too. When I log into my Merchant centre and click "FIX" on the red banner the page just refreshes to the green verified button and the yellow triangle unclaimed. It won't give me an option to re-verify. I have tried going re-adding the domain by going into Tools - Business Information but again just tells me its already verified.
I have spent so much time on 'support chats with both Google and Shopify and not getting anywhere. Its stating that another Merchant Center account has already claimed this URL at a higher level but I don't have another Merchant Center account. Its my business, I have no colleagues and own the domain that I purchased so I just don't understand what is happening!! Help!!
Simply click on claim / verify again and continue with the warnings. It will then claim in the new account.
The issue you have is due to an existing account being claimed with your website.
