HTML 5 video tag - how to count number of plays on video

I've implemented a <video> tag to show a locally hosted video on my home page.

Now I would really want to now how many people clicked the video, but I don't know how.

I'm using Google Analytics to track other events, but I'm really like a bag of nuts when it comes to JavaScript, so I don't know how to combine the two to make it appear in my GA account.

I hope somebody can help :)

Hey @Kenneth_Bon,

You can use Google tag manager to track the activity on your html5 video on your website. I found an article on web which shows the step by step guide on how to set one up. You can track play, pause and percentage completion events using this.

Blog: http://measuremysite.com/html5-video-tracking-google-tag-manager/

Seems like a lenghty process. Here's an alternative blog just in case https://www.wheelhousedmg.com/blog/tracking-html5-video-with-google-tag-manager/

Hope this helps :)

Best regards,
Vignesh

Thanks. I'm not using GTM now, so I'll have to dig further into it.
