Did you try to buy the domain through Shopify again the way you purchased it the first time?
You can do it by following these steps:
From here, follow the instructions to purchase the domain again.
If you want to keep the domain moving forward, be sure to click Auto-renew domain as seen in the screenshot below:

If the domain doesn't show up for you, then it might take some time for it to show up again. Let me know if this works.

Yes ive tried to re-register the domain but it is still unavailable. And yes i checked the auto subscribe button but it keeps saying the payment is due on the 5th December 2019. There is no option to manually pay the registration fee so i am at a complete loss as to whats going on and not happy at all. Next to my domain it says 'setup in progress' , ' SSL Unavailable ' and 'connected'.
How can this be resolved ?
This does sound strange for sure. I might need to take a closer look into this for you if that's ok. Would you be able to confirm the best email address to reach you on is the one you signed up to the community with, please and I can reach out to you directly to investigate further.

Just to confirm, you need to renew your domain? Can I ask where you bought your domain from? As much information you can give would be helpful in troubleshooting this for you.
