Hello,

I have just finished setting up my store www.myfunworkout.com and wanted to link an existing external blog to my header menu. I followed the suggestions given by others in the forum but when I tried adding my link in the navigation, I get this message "Link type must be one of frontpage, collection, collections, product, catalog, page, blog, article, search, shop_policy, http" It's a Wordpress blog.

Any suggestions/help on how I can resolve this issue would be much appreciated.

Thanks

`Hey there, @oscprofessional

Bo here from Shopify Support!

Great question, you can add any external link to your navigation like so:

So long as you include https:// at the start of the link there should be no issues. I would recommend copying the URL directly from your blog as opposed to typing it out as it sounds like the https:// was missing when you tried this initially.

All the Best,

Bo

I just had this problem, and the video was helpful - when you enter a URL, the URL displays slightly above the Name field. You have to click that so that Shopify knows it's an external link.  This adds the external link icon before the Link field value. then you can click on Add successfully.

Hi,

I've just successfully added an external link to the menu however when I refresh the page the menu item appears for a second then disappears.

Do you know why this would happen.

Hey there, Andy

Apologies for the delayed response - I was out of office. I would recommend when posting a new query that you start a new post so that you get attention and support more quickly. This sounds like it is probably a theme issue - are you still experiencing it? If so, what theme are you using? Can you please provide a link to your store in this thread?

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Bo

Hi @AndyW

Maybe you did something incorrectly. Below are simple steps that can help you:

Step 1: Select Online Store > Navigation.
After logging into your Shopify admin, you can select Online Store > Navigation.
Step 2: Go to the name of the menu.
Next, you can go to the name of the menu you want to get the link added.
Step 3: Choose Add menu item or an existing item to edit.
In this step, you can choose Add menu item or an existing item to help edit.
Step 4: Type the link name.
You can type the link name, such as Blog into the Name section.
Step 5: Copy and paste the link into the blog.
Then, you can copy and paste the link into the blog from the Link section.
Step 6: Click Save menu.
The last thing you have to do click Save menu.
