How to "Add a image from URL" with a SVG url

Hello there,

Background

I want to build a website contains at least 10,000 items. Each items will have an image associated with it.

Problem

I'm trying to use the feature "Add a image from URL" with a url containing svg file. However, when i tried to upload, the erro  "(image/svg+xml) is not a recognized format." pop out. I'm wondering if there is any other way to upload the image through a url containing svg.

Things I have tried

It seems that if i add a SVG image link through the "Product Description" section. But it will make this section way too long in the vertical space, and all the horizontal space (which is already left for image section) will be wasted. Anyway, I don't think this is the proper way to solve this problem. I just want to get some opinions from you guys.

Thanks in advance.

so what do you usually recommend clients do in this case? Do I download all the files (in svg) and convert them to jpg or png and then upload?
