Two weeks ago, I received a preemptive warning of policy violations from google merchant center. Half of our product images contain watermark (which is my business name) on the lower right corner. Google gave us 30 days to fix this problem.
I used image url filter to crop the images and hide all the watermark from product page.
But shopify pulls original assets images (source image) url to google channel instead of the updated url on the website's product page.
So my question is how to update source image url in this case? We have over 20,000 images and manual edit through admin is almost impossible.
Any help will be greatly appreciated,
1) Use a supplement feed which is a spreadsheet with an id and image_link column. Add all your product id's and associated correct images
2) Use feed rules if there is a specific pattern that you can use, highly unlikely in this case, but worth mentioning.
3) Upload the correct image natively in Shopify, watermarks are very pointless. Your not protecting anything. There are extremely advanced watermark removal tools, so if someone really wants to steal your images, they can do it regardless. Watermarks are also less professional in the customer's eyes. My recommendation, just upload correct images. Your website will look so much better and you have no issues with Google.
4) You can use my application to upload a different image manually. However a very big task for 20k image.
Hope this helps.
