Like many of you, we tag our marketing campaigns with specific IDs for reporting purposes. The IDs appear in the landing page URL but are no longer available in the URL as soon as the user navigates away from the landing page. Capturing and persisting that data for the duration of the session isn't the problem. What I am looking for is a way to save that captured data (say, a campaign ID but there could be more) to a customer's order when they checkout in a way that ensures it is not mixed in with order notes and it is exportable when we bring the order data into a 3rd party system.
