That does seem quite strange for sure, especially if the domain transfer was successful! Just to confirm if it is still Pending now as it can take some time (up to 48 hrs) sometimes. I know you said it was successful but it might be worth double checking everything is done correctly for this process in the steps Shopify has for this in the help guide here. I'm sure yours is correct, but this is just to be 100% sure it is.
