When enabling Shopify's Enhanced E-commerce Google Analytics to our store, I've noticed that on our Google Analytics, events like adding a ProductVariant to cart uses a random SKU that we have never set on the ProductVariant. We've tried to find out where the SKU used comes from, as it is even populated when SKUs on our products are empty.
When looking into this, we've seen some people suggesting that if an SKU is empty, the Google Analytics Event uses the productID, which can be seen by looking at the product in Shopify Admin and then looking for the ID in the URL. But when we checked this, the ID in the URL and the one passed through to Google Analytics don't even match. The ID in admin was 5093309710395 and the ID used on Google Analytics was 34389479063611.
Basically we would just like to know what SKU is passed through to Google Analytics when Shopify's Enhanced E-commerce analytics are enabled?
