We will be selling jewellery.

Some of it we hold physically in our store. Some of it is with the supplier(s) but we have an agreement in place of how long it will take to make or deliver to us, should an item get sold. For example supplier A might say '2-4 weeks'. Supplier B might say '10 weeks'.

Customer Journey and Pathways;

1) They buy ring, we hold the physical stock at our premises. This means we can send out an order immediately (premium option), or 3-5 days as a standard delivery.

2) They buy ring, but we do not hold the stock. It is with the supplier A (whom we have an agreement with to deliver within 2-3 weeks)

In this scenario the consumer can only have one option – Standard delivery 3-5 days, BUT the communication must say “This order will arrive in 3 weeks” or even better; “This order will arrive in 3 weeks on date DD-MM-YYYY”

3) They buy ring, but we do not hold the stock. It is with the supplier B (whom we have an agreement with to deliver within 8 weeks.

In this scenario the consumer can only have one option – Standard delivery 3-5 days, BUT the communication must say “This order will arrive in 8 weeks” or even better; “This order will arrive in 3 weeks on date DD-MM-YYYY”

The problem we have is that potentially each piece has a different lag time if it is out of stock.

The communication must be clear on both the checkout phases AND the product description and the final invoice/email confirmation. Essentially we need to clearly tell the consumer these different scenarios depending on their order.
