Dropshipping and upcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) = Dead?

Hi community,

I could not find something specific about my subject inhere, therefore I made this post.

I wanted to understand how you guys handle the upcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for europe regarding your dropshipping business?

Right now I am wondering of 2 things:

  1. with GDPR you have to outline in your either buying process or "terms of use" to whom you are transfering the customers data. That means, I have to outline to which i.e. AliExpress re-seller I am transfering customers data in every particular purchase? If so, I foresee nothing good for dropshipping in Europe
  2. From what I've seen so far, shopify is still taking time/actions to implement certain things. By this I am not even quite sure if they put everything a regular eCommerce owner need, in order to compliant with the GDPR i.e. consents, extra opt-in/out options, especially for cookies etc.

  • What do you think about "1"?
  • Do you think, shopify will implement everything neccessary for us to run our drop shipping business?

Cheers,

BudySan
