I am planning to extend my store products by adding dropshipping product. Currently I have my own inventories.
How do I separate shipping charges on dropshipping products and my own inventory products?
Since I will be dropshipping from aliexpress and they will provide free shipping so in this case I will not charge any shipping fee, but I will still want to charge shipping fee for my own inventory products.
Any tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Hi there Paul!
Don here from Shopify!
Usually we would see merchants who wish to offer both regular and drop shipped products on the store use a shipping app to allow for the mixed rates you would need to apply. :)
You could use an app like Better Shipping to set up per-item shipping rates which would allow you to specify which products you wish to charge and at which rates.
Bear in mind that apps like this will need access to our carrier rates API in order to function.
This can be added to any Shopify plan for $20 USD/month, is included in the Advanced Shopify ($299 USD) plan or can be added for free to any plan you choose to pay annually rather than monthly (this is in addition to the 10% off your subscription cost for paying annually so can represent a serious saving). :)
There is also a workaround of sorts you could try; whereby you set any drop-shipped products to have a very low weight and then set up free shipping for any orders that would come in under this weight.
This can be problematic, however, as any orders with a mix of drop and regularly shipped products won't correctly apply the rates in this case so it's less-than-ideal; we just like to give you all available information wherever possible. :)
All the best Paul!
You can watch your time this video. then you can understand.
Hi, my app Simple Purchase Orders https://apps.shopify.com/simple-po was designed exactly for this purpose.
Simple PO allows you to create suppliers for your products and store cost prices for them. You can then generate a purchase order from an order which is sent to your supplier. It easily handles orders with items from more than one supplier.
Any other questions please don't hesitate to ask.
Are you kidding me on the price gouging for this?! Seriously Shopify? I will never pay you guys any more until you get what I already pay for working correctly. I'm honestly thinking about a different service all together and things like this just keep pushing me towards leaving. Even Etsy offers this service. You can't do better than Etsy? Wow. And don't bother giving me some line about contact us we'll help fix your problems. I have. You still can't fix your sales channels. Years. Seriously years, and nothing.
