Financing, tax rates, and accounting
We have 2 store location
Store Location #1 - FL
Store Location #2 - FL
Each have a different Tax Rate for their area.
When using Shopify there is no option to have a second tax rate for our second store location in the same state.
So, customers would be paying a higher tax rate then they should be because of this.
Store Location #1 - FL - Tax Rate = lets say 9.5
Store Location #2 - FL - Tax Rate = lets say 6.5
So, Shopify is charging all customers no matter what their tax rate is in that location the 9.5 since there is no option for different tax rates for 2 or more stores in the same state.
Shopify needs to fix this/add in an option for more then 1 tax rate for each state.
Does anyone know of a way to fix this or get around it?
Thanks for your time.
Hi @Dubie,
There are two ways, first see if a tax override works for you. https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/taxes/registration/manage#override-taxes
Second way is through POS Extension, that might be best if creating a separate collection is not feasible.
Hi there: I'm actually wondering if anyone had a fix for this? We are also having the same issue with Shopify.
We have two brick and mortar locations in the same state. One is the regular NJ sales tax rate and the other is in a reduced sales tax rate (UEZ zone). Shopify doesn't have the ability to have each location ring up at a different rate and we are struggling with a solution. Any advice is appreciated!
Same issue here. Two municipalities with different tax rates means that we're in a pickle.
I had the same problem when we had to switch over from Quickbooks POS, only free solution I found at the time was find another state with the Tax amount you are looking for, customize it to show different on the print template, and keep an eye on draft orders made online with shipping addresses. But your POS local pickups will be locked in and easy.
