Adding an attachment upload to check out or customer profile

I sell towing parts to businesses across America and a lot of them are tax-exempt. Right now they have to send us a separate email with the tax exempt form in it so we have proof, but is there a way that they can just upload it themselves at check out or maybe in their customer profiles to make the process easier?

You can use cart attributes for that. Cart attributes allow you to collect data from customer input before checkout.

That allows me to put a checkbox there but I want them to be able to upload the tax exempt form directly before they check out so that it makes it less confusing.

I assume a tax-exempt form to be uploaded is an image or a pdf. With cart attributes, you can do that. You're not limited by the choices that Shopify's input generator provides.

With line_item attributes (which works like cart attributes), I was able to add an image to my order.

Gotcha, I've read your previous posts. You wanted a checkbox and a way to submit a file on cart before checkout, correct?

If so, again, cart attributes are the way to go.

And since it seems like you're uncomfortable with coding, your best direction would be to hire a developer to do this for you. You would save a lot of time and headache when hiring + you can rest easy knowing that the situation is solved, and the solution will work.
