Financing, tax rates, and accounting
Hi! I'm planning to register a dropshipping business but I'm not sure whether to do it in Estonia (my origin country) or register an LLC in the USA. Any recommendations?
I have a similar question. I want to start a drop-shipping and print-on-demand business on Shopify, but I am based in the Philippines. However, most of my potential customers/target market and drop-shipping suppliers are US-based and EU-based. Should I register a business/LLC in the US instead of the Philippines? Or can I register it in my own country? If I register in my country, would I still be able to dropship to customers in the US?
Hey @Marikath,
Starting a drop-shipping and print-on-demand business can be exciting, and it’s great that you’re considering your options! When it comes to selling internationally, it is up to you to decide where you want to ship your products.
- US Registration: Registering a business or LLC in the US is an option, especially if you plan to target US-based customers. However, it’s not mandatory. Many entrepreneurs operate successful dropshipping businesses from other countries.
- Philippines Registration: You can also register your business in the Philippines. It’s essential to comply with local regulations, obtain necessary permits, and register your business with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) or the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Depending on where you're selling from, you may need to check with local tax and business experts to understand what your obligations are - and when choosing a payment provider they may ask for certain documents such as proof of physical/business presence in the country that you operate from.
You will be able to choose a payment provider from our list of available payment gateways here, just select your region and the ones supported in your country will appear.
Dropshipping to the US:
- Supplier Relationships: Focus on building strong relationships with reliable US-based suppliers. Look for suppliers who offer fast shipping and quality products.
- Market Research: Understand your US target market—what they want, trends, and preferences. Tailor your product offerings accordingly.
Remember that success in drop-shipping depends on factors like product selection, marketing, and customer service. Research thoroughly, create a solid business plan, and adapt as needed.
If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask! Best of luck with your venture!
