I keep getting this ERROR:

  • Business tax id does not match company name. Please ensure that your legal business name is exactly as registered with the IRS. DBAs ("doing business as" names) can not be used in this registration.

I have uploaded all my documents through my shop. By law I do not have to have a LLC to sell digital products.

I am a sole Perioritor and have an EIN registered with the IRS and I have up-loaded documents proving such. I am getting very upset and frustrated that I can not speak to a live person to get this issue fixed. I have done the chat process and it has failed... I need to speak to someone ASAP.

Please someone help.

Thank you

Hi, @Maggi-P!

Thanks for reaching out in our Community forums and for sharing your concern, I’d be happy to help.

I can empathize with you as I understand to get your business on the road. I'm also sorry that you are having issues with contacting support. To begin, This error comes up when the system is trying to match the business entity name and tax ID (EIN) against the IRS database. Here are a few troubleshooting steps that I'd suggest going over to ensure that the information is accurate:

  1. Confirm there are no typos. You should be referencing the details on their IRS EIN Confirmation Letter
  2. If it’s a new EIN (anything less than 30 may not be in the IRS database yet as they are behind in updating - so you have to keep trying every day)
  3. Ensure that you have not recently changed your business name with the state but not the IRS (Could take the state some time to update the IRS)
  4. Confirm there are no typos again

If the issue still persists, we’ll need to access your account in order to gather more information about the issue. We’d be happy to continue assisting you through live chat, email, or callback. Please visit our Help Center and log in to your account to create a support request.
