Do I need a VAT for selling outside EU from Greece?

My shopify store is based in EU Greece but I want to sell outside of EU.

Do I need to open a company and get a VAT number?

HI , 

I presume that you are registered as private entrepreneur in Greece. If that is the case you can safely sell to the outside of EU and you do not need to register for VAT in Greece (based on general rules) , unless and until Greece would require you to get registered when you reach the registration threshold ( I believe it is 35 K in Greece)
