Does using a third party payment gateway incur extra fees?

I want to enquire whether using a third party payment gateway incurs additional fees? I have read that its dependent on the plan and varies between 0.5% and 2%. Is this new? I have been using Shopify and an external payment gateway and I have never been charged before.

Hey, @Tashtoush!

I'm happy to share some information about this. As laid out on our pricing page, there will be transaction fees if you're not using Shopify Payments (aka, using a third-party payment gateway). The fees range from 0.5% to 2.0% based on what Shopify plan you're on. 

I dug around our resources and found that transaction fees have been charged on third party payment gateways for a while. If you had an account from about 10+ years ago there may be a different agreement in place, but typically these fees were always charged.
