Financing, tax rates, and accounting
Hi, I often need to create a draft order to send to a client for payment. The draft order named "D#" is then turned into an Order # in shopify. Once the draft order is paid, can it be deleted? For instance, I have a Draft #11 which turned into order # 1419. They are both exactly the same. The order was paid. In that case can I delete the draft 11 without messing anything up in my orders? I would leave drafts as drafts until actually paid.
Secondly, do the draft orders and actual orders BOTH contribute to the monthly sales tax collected - essentially doubling the sales tax?
Any help on this would be great!! Thank you!

Hello @amyathome ,
We are OneCommerce - an eCommerce Solution Platform.
In your case, we have our TrueProfit expert answered your questions:
- Once a draft order has been paid, it has already been converted into an order, and deleting the draft will not affect the order in any way.
- And no, a draft order and its corresponding order in Shopify do not both contribute to the monthly sales tax collected. Sales tax is typically calculated and collected on orders that have been marked as "paid" in Shopify. When a draft order is converted to an order and marked as paid, sales tax is calculated and collected on the order based on the tax settings in your Shopify account.
