Financing, tax rates, and accounting
I believe someone fraudulently opened a shopify account using my identity.
I received an IRS letter demanding payment of back taxes associated with a 1099-k in my name with the payee Shopify. I do not run a business with or earned income using Shopify's platform. The IRS is asking for a corrected 1099-k in order to adjust the amount they say I owe. Getting in touch with support has been impossible. I even opened a trial account because the chatbot told me I'd get support if I did. I have not. Anyone out there have any recommendations on how to get a hold of someone in shopify?
Hey @ChicoAlan.
Thanks for reaching out.
If you are in need of getting in contact with Shopify's live support and could not get in touch with a Support Advisor after creating a trial account on the Help Center. You can navigate to this URL and complete the form.
Once you successfully complete the form, you should see the options to speak directly with a Support Advisor about the situation.
