Has anyone received their 2022 1099-k form yet?

Has anyone received their 2022 1099-k form? I don’t know why it’s becoming a every year thing for Shopify to not issue 1099-k forms by the federal deadline.  Last year I did not receive mine until mid February and that is just crazy to me. I know that Shopify is saying that we can use our store reports to file our tax return, however I’d rather file using the information from the 1099-k since those are the actual numbers that are submitted to the IRS. Last year I used my reports and the numbers on the 1099-k were different, so I had to amend. I do not want to go through that this year!

Still waiting here as well. We should not have to do all the leg work to go through reports when they are required to send them.  Every other company has no issues getting them out by the 31st I am not sure why this is such a huge hassle for Shopify.

Yes, I said the same thing. I have been calling them all last week to inquire about when the forms will be available. They kept saying on or before the 31st. Here we are almost at the end of the day on the 31st and still no 1099! I’ve gotten 1099’s from 3 other 3rd party payment companies. This is literally a every Year issue with Shopify! It’s getting ridiculous!

I have not received mine either. I chatted with a representative yesterday asking about it. The Rep stated it would be today or later. I then advised that by law, the 31st was the deadline. I still have not received it.

Told me the something. It is now 10:23pm in my state and still no 1099-k! We shouldn’t have this issue every single year. Shopify has more than enough time to get these things straight before the federal deadline.

I haven’t gotten mine yet either. The rep I’m talking to is CLUELESS. We should file a class action suit for not getting forms on time.  I mean. It’s the law.

Totally agree! The reps are absolutely clueless. For 1 they keep saying that the threshold is $20k and 200 transaction but the new law states that the threshold is $600. (I meet the threshold either way, but this just shows how clueless they are). One of them told me that I won’t get the form until March lol!

Actually, I just read an article that said that in December they pushed the change to $600 off by a year so it won’t apply to the 2022 tax year.  What does that mean I wonder?

It means that they will continue with the $20k & 200 transaction threshold. However take that information with a grain of salt because last year I made nowhere near the $20k threshold & 200 transactions but they still sent me a 1099-k.

Same here. My chat session was just ended. Basically, Shopify has no intention of sending 1099k forms until around February 11, and will NOT be providing any feasible explanation as to why.

If they got a “extension” why wouldn’t they notify store owners ahead of time. (Actually I didn’t get the memo at all) This so extremely frustrating! Please keep me posted when you get yours, and I’ll do the same.

From the runaround I got in the chat session last night, they did not notify shop owners and had no intention of doing so ever. I kept getting the same rehearsed script, when I asked for a copy/explanation of the "legal extension", or why we were not able notified there would be a delay. The chat rep "checked with the legal/tax departments for 20 min and had no answers.

Yes I just saw that too. So the old limits, not the new $600 limit remains in place for 2022.

I was just about to see what actions could be taken. This is absurd, and of course the only response they have is they need the time to make sure they issue all forms. PayPal was on time. Etsy was on time. Why do they need 2 additional weeks?  Maybe I need to evaluate moving my business elsewhere.

Exactly! I got mine from PayPal, Affirm and zip pay last week. Shopify is what’s holding me up! Last year I went by the Store report and the 1099-k number and report number were offf not to mention in late March they sent me a correction 1099-k! For Shopify to be such a big platform, they need to do better. Their tax team is a mess!

Yes, I did the same thing. What I know now is that report includes all payments, not just the ones processed through Shopify, so I was double reporting income from PayPal and Ebay. I really need the correct figure from Shopify without going through all these extraneous calculations.

Hey I have a question if the 1099-k from Shopify capture all the payments why we receive a 1099-k from let’s say AfterPay. I am very confused with that.

I am chatting with them at this very moment. The response I was given was that Shopify received a legal extension to issue forms beyond January 31, and they should be issued by February 11.  Of course when I asked to see some sort of confirmation of this, given no prior notification by Shopify, I can't seem to get a clear answer.

It’s ridiculous how they give this same textbook excuse EVERY SINGLE YEAR!!!!!! It’s getting old.

I got mine. Check your store! I never got a email I just happened to check and it was there.

I just checked and mine wasn’t there. I realized today that I didn’t meet the threshold.

Ok, popped up late yesterday. Taxes done and filed😁. Not very happy that it seems we had to start a ruckus to get Shopify moving.

If you have a inactive store, the system won't let you access your 1099-K -- seems illegal. Does anyone know how to access it if you have moved to another platform?

I'm not sure. Is your store temporarily inactive, not closed (if there's a difference). Can you reactivate just to download the form? If not, I would expect that they should provide you with a paper copy by mail. You may want to give them a call.

We're not finding ours either - is there some secret place to get it? I did way more than the IRS minimum.

I contacted Shopify Chat Support on Friday. I was told that they have no way for former customers to access the forms [for stores that have closed]. I moved to another platform [though I am paid through Oct 2023], but had been on Shopify for 5 years.

The support agent added a 3 day trial to my account so that I could access the form.

Obviously this situation is ridiculous and totally unacceptable. Shopify is legally required to make these forms available to customers, wether or not they are actively on the platform.

I hope this is not the case this year. It's 02/08/24 and the document is not available. They said I could use the summary from the analytics page, however, it doesn't have the TIN #, and they ask certain questions that isn't provided on that summary page. I didn't want to wait to file this year because I want to use the refund to re-open the store.. but... If you all didn't get yours until March... That's discouraging. lol
