Financing, tax rates, and accounting
Hi all,
I can see that the issue has been raised but don't see that it has been addressed.
I am VAT registered EU seller but below 10, 000 euro threshold so I am registered as a micro-business on Shopify which means that I can apply tax-rate overrides based on my local vat rate. I have done this and yet a ridiculous fictional rate is still being applied to my product prices. I calculate it to be 24% or therabouts.
How do I fix this - or can I? Is it a systematic issue which Shopify needs to address? I will be cancelling my subscription if this cannot be sorted out as potential customers must think I am an absolute thief by applying a rate of VAT which does not actually exist for my products within the EU.

So I take it that there are no moderators with any interest or expertise in this matter...? Seems like 90% of posts go unanswered. And this is Shopify's support system for its paying subscribers? What a crock!
Well, I have established a preposterous workaround for the problem. If you have 1000's of products it won't help. Luckily my attempts at bulk uploading failed so I have been adding items manually a few at a time and noticed the bug early.
So what have to do is add your VAT rate to your prices and then using the bulk edit feature in Products, uncheck the "Charge tax on this product" box. When an EU customer checks the price on the product page it still says "tax included" - and it is: AT THE CORRECT RATE! Thanks to the seller!
