How can I resolve my VAT number verification issue on VIES?

Dear Mr./Mrs,


I would like to ask you for help about VAT number.


 When I put it to the system, shopify is writing me: "We were unable to verify your VAT number with the VAT Information Exchange System (VIES). Replace your VAT number to try again."


This VAT number I got from my tax office in my hometown and when I was calling there they were not able to help me. So I am asking you please what should I do please? I have VAT number but probably not in this sysrem (VIES) so what can I do? Should I put there the second possibility that I do not have it or...?

It looks like you've run into a verification error there with your VAT number. If you believe that your VAT number is valid, our team can help check the number on our end. We aren't able to do this via the Community Forums however, so you'll need to get in touch with our Live Support team so that we can securely verify you against the correct account to further help with your situation.


To get in touch with our team, you'll need to login to your store via our help centre here. Once logged in, select a topic that best fits your query or situation. From there, you'll be taken to a page with a list of relevant support articles, and you can scroll to the bottom of that page to select your preferred contact method with our team.
