Hi, according to EU regulations if I'm located in one EU country and my customer is located in another - I need to use the VAT rate of his country.

Does anyone know how can I set different VAT rates for specific countries that I sell to ?

Hey @Daniel19901!

You're right about using the VAT rate of the customer's country when selling within the EU. But keep in mind this only applies if you're VAT-registered and under the OSS taxation scheme.

Setting it up on Shopify is quite straightforward:

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to the Settings → Taxes and duties page.
  2. Click on European Union in the Countries/regions section.
  3. Click Collect VAT in the Shipping within the EU section.
  4. Choose the One-Stop Shop registration option and hit Next.
  5. Select your Registration country and input your VAT number. If you're still waiting for your VAT number, leave it blank and update it later.
  6. Click Collect VAT to finalize.

Tax rules can sometimes be a bit tricky. That's why we've crafted a detailed tax guide on how to set up EU taxes for Shopify stores. Give it a read, and reach out if you have more questions.

Hope this helps!
