Financing, tax rates, and accounting
I reached out here on shopify support team on June 14, 11:48am, about two weeks ago, Job R mentioned someone would contact me to assist from the Tax team. I have sent another follow up message on Monday June 19, no response. And another this morning. No response.
Although I was told in my thread that all I had to do was respond to the thread and they reassured me there would be a reply, but it doesnt seem i can get any help.
I havent even begin to open my online store, just in the process of trying to make sure everything is in order before I do and this has caused a delay of two weeks..
Hi, @dea7nna.
Thanks for reaching out in the Community Forums.
It sounds like you're currently looking to update your Shopify Payments account information, is that correct?
For context, due to security reasons, a Shopify Payments account information can't be viewed or edited by merchants via the Shopify admin after a merchant has completed their account setup. Because of this, requests to change these details will need to be escalated to the most appropriate team. This will differ for each individual and their case, but for your situation it sounds like our internal tax team are best equipped to assist you.
If you've received confirmation that your case has been escalated to the tax team, all that's left to do is to wait for our team to follow up via email. We aren't able to guarantee a response time, as these vary for each team. It's possible that the particular team handling your case is experiencing a larger amount of requests than usual, which has resulted in an extended wait time for our merchants. I know it can be frustrating to wait, but rest assured that you will receive a response as soon as our team has reviewed your request.
Just so that I understand your situation fully however, there's currently no hold whatsoever on your Shopify Payments account, correct? And is your store based in the United States? If this is the case, I'd like to clarify that changes to tax details are backdated to January 1 of the current year. So while we understand your urgency of wanting to get your tax information updated, you are more than welcome to start selling on your store during this time, as you don't need to wait for this to be resolved before you can start selling.
So if you believe your store is ready to go, I'll leave you with some resources to help with its launch:
