Financing, tax rates, and accounting
dear Shopify help,
I am a UK based merchant and sell to a few EU end customers.
Brexit means changes to VAT payments and recovery.
By law, I can choose to zero-rate all sales to EU customers for the period 1 January - 1 July when the One Stop Shop (OSS) system comes into place. The EU customer will need to pay import tax equivalent to their VAT before taking delivery of their purchase.
However, your Shopify tax settings do not allow me to do this. You have set it up so that you are assuming that I have registered for VAT in every single EU country where I sell.
How do I persuade you to correct your mistake and provide the merchant with the flexibility allowed by UK law?
Thank you for your help.
