Financing, tax rates, and accounting
How do I determine the credit card transaction fees outside of the monthly fee. I am hosting specials and fundraisers but need to charge them to cover my costs. I don't know how to find that!
Hi, @MOtees!
Welcome to the Shopify Community! Great question regarding fees outside of your monthly subscription fee. The other fees you pay will depend on the payment gateway you are using, the subscription plan you are on, and on your location (country).
Are you using Shopify Payments? If you are using Shopify Payments, then you do not pay any transaction fees on top of your regular credit card fees. The credit card fees are then determined by the subscription plan you are on. You can see this breakdown on our pricing page by clicking Show plan features and scrolling down to the Shopify Payments section; make sure you reference the correct column depending on your subscription plan.
If you're not using Shopify Payments, then you will be charged transaction fees on top of your regular credit card fees. The transaction rate is also determined by the subscription plan you are on. You can find this information in the same section as listed above on our pricing page. To determine your credit card rates if you are not using Shopify Payments, it may be listed in your Shopify admin under Settings > Payments. If it's not, you'll need to reach out to your third party payment gateway to find out more.
We have a help document on charges that walks through this information, as well as how to calculate your total fees. It also discusses other charges that exist in Shopify, such as shipping labels.
Let me know if you have any questions!
