Financing, tax rates, and accounting
Hello! We've recently wanted to include taxes after we have successfully registered our business with our tax bureau here in the Philippines. However, after an repeat customer orders, we learned that previous customers were tagged as tax exempt. How can we remove the tax exempt status on all customers that were previously on the Shopify database? We want to collect taxes for all the 600+ customers. I hope anyone can help me. Thank you!
Hey @giangabrielkim,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I'm happy to provide some assistance with making adjustments to your customers, to get this resolved. To provide some context, a CSV file can be utilized to provide the ability to export a large number of customers and their details to make adjustments. I recommend checking out our Using Customer CSV Files documentation for information on exporting and how to use the file.
To complete this, you can:
Click Export.
Select one of the following export options:
Click Export customers.
Once exported, you can update the Tax Exempt column to reflect the appropriate details and import back into the shop. It's important to note that exported and imported CSV files are limited to 1 MB in size, which may result in having to upload multiple CSV files to successfully complete this.
Alternatively, you can look to the Shopify App Store for an available app that will allow for this change to be made. The app Matrixify for example, is a great workaround that will allow you to also achieve this in bulk.
