I get charged before I get paid!

So currently when Ian order is placed on my store, my drop shipper "Printful" charges me right away and then Shopify pays me a few days later. I want to run an ad campaign on Facebook but I don't know if I'll have the funds to cover all the potential orders. Does anyone have any ideas how to handle this issue?

Hey there.

My name is Lizzy. I'm one of the Gurus on the support team at Shopify.

When I set up my own Printful store I ran into a similar issue. I discovered there is a way to set up orders within Printful to be manually fulfilled. This means that you can wait until you have enough funds to fulfill your orders. Keep in mind however, that this could delay processing times for your customers. It might be worth adding a note to your products, or on a Shipping FAQ page, that processing can take a few days. This will help to manage customer expectations before an order is made.

To set up manual fulfillment in Printful, open up the Printful app within your admin, click on Settings>Orders. Once on this page you'll see the option to either manually fulfill your orders or have them fulfilled automatically.

I noticed you also mentioned you're planning on setting up a new Facebook ad campaign. What other methods of marketing are you using at the moment? Do you also use social media channels like Instagram to build your audience?

Thank you for your response. I would like to use Instagram as well, I think there was an option to include Instagram if the Facebook Campaign. But I will take all the advice I can get!

You're right, you can set up Instagram ads as well as Facebook ads. However, I always like to suggest another form of audience building to work on together with ads to help make your marketing well rounded.

Instagram can be a really useful tool, even without ads, to get to know your customers and build a community around your posts. Have you ever considered reaching out to bloggers or YouTubers who share content similar as well? We have a blog post you can read here about different ways to generate traffic that is more likely to buy.
