I have the tax box unchecked. Why am I getting charged taxes.

Like it says in the title, I have created a bunch of products to sell, all with the tax box unchecked, but one item seems to have taxes attached to it after the customer purchases the item. Is this a glitch in the system? What else could be causing the error. I work for a school so taxes are a very finicky thing that we deal with ourselves, so it is crucial the these items not be auto taxed by Shopify.
