Financing, tax rates, and accounting
Hi
I recently launched my site and am working on my first quarterly sales & use tax report and I have come across an big issue...
I've only had one sale in my state since launching and went to file my sales & use taxes and it took me over an hour to figure out why in the world they would not accept the numbers I was entering, which should literally just be a copy and paste from the tax report within Shopify...
I had a customer purchase $123 worth of products and it was delivered to Leon County.
The Florida General Sales Tax is 6%
Leon County Surtax is 1.5%
This is the report for the quarter and my only Florida sale for the quarter.
The rates "display" correctly but the actual calculations are incorrect for some reason and this was why when I tried to submit the information to the state it kept coming back with errors.
$123 x 0.6 = $7.38
$123 x 0.15 = $1.85
Totalling $9.23
Collected $6.61
Difference $2.62
If I would have had several purchases within the state of Florida this would have added up quickly caused me to lose money.
This is what Florida would only accept with is what it should have been calculated at.
Can someone please review this and figure out why this is not calculating correctly?
Thank you!
Adina
It is frustrating. I'm still having the issue - Shopify NOT collecting enough Florida County Tax, thus taking money out of my pocket.
SAMEEEEEE. I have a lot of Florida sales, so I literally go insane every time I have to pay sales tax AND I'm paying what I'm collecting. Shopify please fix this!!!!
